About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Research Scientist to join our scientific team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design, execution, and management of clinical trials and longitudinal studies that generate evidence of our programs. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of research projects and the generation of high-quality clinical data and published products.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Study Design and Protocol Development:
    • Develop and refine clinical study protocols, informed consents, case report forms, and other essential study documents.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure study designs meet scientific, regulatory, and ethical standards.
  • Project Management:
    • Oversee clinical trials from initiation through completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, including clinicians, data managers, biostatisticians, and regulatory affairs specialists.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation:
    • Analyze clinical data and interpret results to ensure their scientific validity and significance.
    • Collaborate with biostatistics and data management teams to ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Ethics:
    • Ensure clinical trials comply with applicable regulations, good clinical practice (GCP) guidelines, and ethical standards.
    • Prepare and maintain documentation for regulatory submissions and audits (including IRB).
  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Prepare and present detailed study reports, scientific publications, and presentations for medical journals, scientific meetings and regulatory bodies.
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to disseminate research findings.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices and process improvements in clinical research.
    • Stay updated on the latest advancements in clinical research methodologies and therapeutic areas.

We believe that remote work and in-person work have their own advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage the best of both worlds. Employees in hybrid roles are required to be in the office 3 days/week. The San Francisco office has a dog-friendly workplace program.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or DrPh in Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical research or related roles within the digital health or biotechnology industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of and experience with clinical trial design, methodology, and data analysis.
  • Experience with regulatory submissions and familiarity with GCP and ICH guidelines.
  • Publication and presentation experience as a first author.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in chronic pain and musculoskeletal health conditions
  • Experience with cloud-based survey and IRB platforms
  • Experience analyzing large datasets 
  • Statistical programming skills in R, Python, SQL, and/or Stata

Compensation 

This position will have an annual salary, plus equity and benefits. Please note the annual salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. The annual salary range for this position is $121,600 - $182,400.
